More than 700 college radio stations in over 50 countries united on Thursday, October 3, 2024, to celebrate the 14th World College Radio Day (WCRD), organized by the College Radio Foundation, which also raises money for student scholarships and college radio station grants.
This year’s WCRD theme was “The Soundtrack of Democracy,” and GRAMMY-nominated, multi-platinum singer/songwriter Gavin DeGraw was tapped as the official WCRD 2024 Ambassador.
WMSC 90.3 assembled an ambitious 32-hour marathon broadcast, which included special shows by DJs, “mega-unplugged,” an info-desk concert, a special edition of WMSC’s Morning Buzz, and, a perennial fan-favorite event, “Golf Cart Karaoke.”
World College Radio Day was established in 2010 with the mission to connect thousands of college radio listeners around the world and celebrate the importance of college radio. It is a day that encourages new listeners to discover a new station and a time for programmers and station members to celebrate their station and their time within the station.
WMSC is a non-commercial, alternative rock and talk college radio station located in New Jersey and owned by Montclair State University. WMSC broadcasts at 90.3 MHz, online at www.wmscradio.com and is also available on the iHeartRadio App & Platforms. It is the mission of WMSC to provide an educational and pre-professional experience in a co-curricular activity for the student body of Montclair State University fostering student learning, professional advancement and civic engagement.
