WMSC Brings Home Eight National Awards

Radio Station recognized at the 2024 College Broadcasters Inc. National Student Production Awards

WMSC-FM at College Broadcasters Inc. National Student Production Awards

WMSC-FM has been recognized with three first place awards, three second place awards and two fourth place awards at the 2024 College Broadcasters Inc. National Student Production Awards in Seattle, WA. These accolades highlight the exceptional talent and dedication of WMSC’s student journalists, broadcasters, and media creators.

The students were awarded first place in the category of Best Audio Promo for their piece “This is WMSC” and Best Student Media Website. Additionally, a collaborative effort between WMSC and Hawk+ was awarded first place in the Best Video Special Broadcast category for “Focus: Our Election”.

“Winning the award for Best Student Media Website is a tremendous honor, and it’s a testament to the hard work and creativity of our student web team,” said Emol McCormack, WMSC’s Program and Music Director who managed the website for the past three years. “WMSC has given me the platform to grow as a multimedia storyteller and hone my skills in web design and digital content creation. This recognition will inspire us to continue raising the bar and providing an engaging online experience for our listeners and the broader campus community.”

In addition to the first place awards, Montclair students also earned second place in the following categories: Best Documentary (“Trans Day of Visibility”), Best Hard News Reporting (“Phoenix Homelessness and Possible Solutions”), and Best Feature News Reporting (“Cowboy College”). The station also received two fourth place awards: Best Promo (“Thespian Therapy”) and Best Regularly Scheduled Entertainment Show (“It’s Showtime”)
